Vila Isabel Charitable Society (VICS) is a Canadian charity, whose goal is to help build an environment where the rights of every child and human being are accomplished. Since 2005, Vila Isabel has been working with underprivileged children and their families living in Citrolandia, a deprived village on the outskirts of Betim in Brazil’s Minas Gerais state.
Vila Isabel is a “not-for-profit” organization under the registration number 81763 3944 RC 0001 and is currently in the process of applying for federal charitable status.
To help reach its mission and achieve its goal, Vila Isabel, has partnered with an organization called Nubem (Nucleo Beneficiente Mirandinha), a charity registered in Brazil*. Vila Isabel and Nubem presently have three main social programs:
1) Distribution of food baskets to the families,
2) Weekly day care – where lunch is provided to the kids, and
3) Providing school supplies for the children.
To support these projects, VICS raises funds through donations and social events carried out in Vancouver, BC. Vila Isabel relies solely on volunteer work for the management, organization and execution of events, allowing for 100% of funds raised to be donated directly to the families of Citrolandia.

Promoting Life: Vila Isabel believes in promoting lives through a systemic approach in addressing root causes of issues, with the ultimate goal of assisting them to be a fully self-sustainable community.
* Nubem is registered in Brazil under CNPJ 08.068.822/001-16, and obtained its status of “public organization” according to Betim’s municipal Law 4688 in August 13, 2008, approved by the local council and mayor.
